The Day LA Turned Into an Actual Fishbowl

We never thought we’d see the day when the city that we cover could be transformed into a literal reflection of our MediaBistro.com blog name. But it happened Wednesday, in the affluent Orange County hills of Laguna Niguel, under less than favorable circumstances.

News of FBLA-LA came courtesy of NBC LA:

A man who raises Koi on a fish farm in Laguna Canyon lost about 300 fish when his ponds overflowed. Some of the fish, which look like big goldfish, were swept down the canyon. Others were struggling to live in big puddles.

Laguna Koi Ponds at 20452 Laguna Beach Road has been in business for 21 years, selling fish that can fetch up to $200 each.

FBLA put in a call to the owner, Ben, to find out if any of the washed out Koi were saved. But he is understandably preoccupied with the storm’s aftermath. We wish him and his colleagues the best of luck with their clean-up efforts.
