Rihanna Takes Flight on Harper’s Bazaar Cover

Third cover appearance crowns special 150th Anniversary Collector's Edition

If you have to ask about the price, then maybe the item is something you cannot afford.

As part of a very cleverly conceived cover-shoot for the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar, pop superstar Rihanna channeled her inner Amelia Earhart at Santa Paula Airport in Southern California. Above is the subscribers cover, which comes with the following retail information:

Dior Haute Couture dress and sneakers, prices upon request, dior.com; Ralph Lauren Collection vintage flight cap, price upon request, ralphlauren.com; Chopard earrings, bracelet, and rings, prices upon request, and watch, $45,690, chopard.com; Schott NYC flight jacket, $780, 212-219-1636.

A bonus, for online readers, is that Harper’s Bazaar has today republished an essay written for the magazine in 1929 by Earhart herself. It’s fantastic to be able to re-read that content in this context.

Kudos to photographer Mariano Vivanco and the rest of the team for this series of shots. The newsstand cover of the March issue features a more conventional close-up of Rihanna. Albeit with new-look blonde hair.
