Remembering Peter Jennings: One Year Later
It was a year ago today that Peter Jennings lost his battle with lung cancer.
As TVNewser notes, the news didn’t break until almost midnight on August 7, 2005. “It is with a profound sadness and true sorrow that I report to you Peter Jennings has died, tonight, of lung cancer,” Charles Gibson announced in an ABC News special report.
For tonight’s World News broadcast, ABC is planning to “mark the anniversary with reports on lung cancer prevention and smoking cessation.”
