Playboy Magazine Taps New Executive Editors for Print, Digital

James Rickman and Leila Brillson

Can Cooper Hefner successfully augment the Playboy magazine U.S. brand? We wouldn’t bet against him. Especially now that he has brought in qualified reinforcements.

Per an announcement today, the Beverly Hills-based editorial team has been revamped. Promoted to executive editor of the magazine is James Rickman, while Leila Brillson has been brought in to serve in the same capacity for playboy.com:

Rickman came to Playboy from Paper magazine, where he served as managing editor and was part of the team behind the notorious “Break the Internet” issue. He joined Playboy in 2015, overseeing entertainment content both in print and online, as well as the Playboy Interview.

Brillson is a Chicago native who has spent the last decade at the forefront of New York digital lifestyle media, including consultancy positions at the Snapchat Discover channel Sweet and Hearst. She was also vice president of digital at Nylon and was entertainment director at Refinery 29.

Assisting this tandem on the layout side will be Chris Deacon, promoted at Playboy Enterprises from art director to creative director. His resume includes stints with Time Out New York, NME, Loaded and InStyle.
