Everyone in America seems to hate Los Angeles, so reimagining this city is a popular past-time in the rest of the country. Newsweek jumps aboard destroy LA and start fresh train by contacting three prominent architectural firms, cityLAB-UCLA, Gensler, and Michael Maltzan Architecture and asking them to brainstorm what our city should look like in 2030.
The results were not pretty.
Among the solutions to the LA dilemma: building giant, sterile torture cubes to lord over the landscape, sticking us in giant skyscrapers where we live, work and never seem to leave, and putting homes in people’s backyards to make things more dense — and wildly unlivable.
God, architecture sucks these days.
