Movin’ Up

jimmy.jpegThe Orange County Register loves its own. A former lowly Laguna Beach reporter (Andrew Horan) is now the editor of the Reg’s new OC Post. A former lowly San Juan Capistrano underling (Michael Coronado) has recently been named night editor and a guy who started out as a paper boy (Jim Radcliffe) now calls in the shots in South Orange County.

From an internal memo sent to the staff about Radcliffe’s new editor gig:

Jim’s career started in 1970 as a paperboy with the Register (he broke one big vase and a screen door with errant throws). Much later, he was a summer reporting intern with the Register before graduating from USC (he’s a fanatic, by the way). He then worked as a reporter on the weekly edition of the Register and subsequently had stints with The Arizona Daily Star, the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner (for a mere five weeks just before it folded) and The Daily Breeze. He rejoined the Register in 1998, covering south Orange County and the tug-o-war over whether the closed El Toro base would become a commercial airport. Last summer, he switched beats to cover
transportation.

Apparently if you’re willing to commit the entirety of your career span to the Freedom Family, the Freedom Family will — eventually — take care of you.
