Ray Rice Cut by Ravens Following TMZ Video Release (TVNewser)
At 4 a.m. ET Monday morning, TMZ posted a video showing Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice knocking out his fiancée Janay Palmer — now his wife — in an Atlantic City elevator last February. By 2:30 p.m., Rice had been suspended indefinitely by the NFL and cut by the Ravens. PRNewser The NFL’s SVP of communications Greg Aiello explained things to CNN: “We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.” Mashable The video shows a man believed to be Rice and a woman in a lobby at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Feb. 15, 2014. The woman is believed to be Palmer, now Janay Rice, whom Rice married in March. After entering an elevator, the two briefly scuffle. The man then hits the woman with his left hand, causing her head to appear to hit the handrail in the elevator. The woman then slumps to the ground and does not move. The man then proceeds to drag her out of the elevator while she still appears to be unconscious. Security arrives after that. Variety ESPN host Keith Olbermann has accused the NFL and commissioner Roger Gooddell, among others, of covering up the Rice domestic violence situation. Rice was given a two-game suspension by the NFL last month over the incident, but on Monday, the league suspended the football player indefinitely as a result of the graphic video. Mediaite TMZ founder Harvey Levin said Monday that none of this would have happened, and Rice would have gotten away with it scot-free, had TMZ not put the video online.

In His Debut, Chuck Todd Gets Meet the Press Ratings Win (TVNewser)
So far, so good for Chuck Todd and Meet the Press. Preliminary ratings are in for Todd’s debut Sunday, and according to Nielsen’s fast program ratings for September 7, MTP won in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo. FishbowlDC Final numbers will be released Thursday morning, but early numbers show that MTP, which aired an exclusive sit-down with President Barack Obama, averaged 2.977 million total viewers. MTP also won the coveted A25-54 demo with 804,000 viewers. NBC’s Sunday morning win was the first time the program was No. 1 in total or demo viewers since February 2014. FishbowlDC The program featured two new segments, “Who needs Washington?” and “What everyone in Washington knows, but is afraid to say.” Deadline Hollywood Against Todd, CBS’ Face The Nation logged 2.864 million viewers, ABC’s This Week posted an average of 2.559 million and Fox News Sunday scored 1.522 million. In news demo viewers, Todd’s debut posted a big spike from the previous week’s 684,000. Ratings from Todd’s competition for the same week: Face The Nation, 768,000; This Week, 763,000; and Fox News Sunday, 438,000.

Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s Bloomberg TV Show Gets Debut Date (TVNewser)
True to the title of their best-selling book, Game Change, Mark Halperin and John Heilemann aim to alter the political debate on TV. With All Due Respect, hosted by the duo, will premiere on Bloomberg TV Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. ET. FishbowlDC Bloomberg Politics unveiled two promos for the program Monday. “In a world where people say ‘with all due respect’ when that is not at all what they mean comes a new show that fuses popular culture, the political world and TV… and translates what people are actually saying,” the movie-trailer-like longer promo of the two says in its opening. Mediaite In the first trailer for the show, politicians like Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton are seen using that infamous political phrase, from which the name of the show was derived. FishbowlNY Halperin and Heilemann joined Bloomberg Politics in May.

James Corden to Replace Craig Ferguson on Late Late Show (THR / The Live Feed)
CBS has officially tapped James Corden as its new Late Late Show host. The 36-year-old British actor/comedian will replace Craig Ferguson at 12:35 a.m., CBS said in a formal announcement Sept. 8, more than a month after the network’s courtship of Corden first surfaced. Variety In doing so, CBS is likely hoping the new host’s experience in British TV and Broadway will help expand the appeal of The Late Late Show despite competition. On NBC, Late Night with Seth Meyers gets a heady lead-in from the new Tonight, helmed by Jimmy Fallon, and also enjoys a wide level of recognition from the host’s years on Saturday Night Live. Mediaite While he is a relative unknown in the States, Corden will have the benefit of following the new Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which will launch sometime early next year in the 11:35 p.m. slot on CBS and is bound to generate an enormous amount of buzz, at least initially.

FoxNewsGo and FoxBusinessGo Apps Launch (TVNewser)
Fox News is now everywhere. Following nine months of beta testing, the new FoxNewsGo and FoxBusinessGo apps launched Monday with simulcasts of FNC and FBN programming on iOS and Android devices. Lost Remote “We just wanted to get a product on portable devices and desktops that really created an experience much like the linear service,” Tim Carry, EVP of distribution, said. Variety Video-on-demand and second-screen functionality are likely to come in time, said Carry. Fox News expects the new mobile tools to be available to approximately 70 million of its subscribers, Carry said. About 220 partners have signed on to offer the service, including major cable carriers like Comcast, Time Warner Cable and DirecTV.

20th Century Fox TV PR Chief Chris Alexander Elevated (THR)
Chris Alexander is moving up the executive ranks. The long-time Twentieth Century Fox Television PR chief has been upped to executive VP of corporate communications and publicity. Variety Alexander is one of the industry’s most respected PR mavens. He’s known for handling the round-the-clock demands of journos during pilot season with equanimity and good humor — no small feat given the competitive nature of the coverage. Deadline Hollywood Alexander, who has been at 20th Century TV since 2000 and most recently served as SVP, leads the studio’s corporate communications, publicity, talent relations and events. He oversees the studio’s award campaigns for its 39 series, including Modern Family, Homeland and American Horror Story, and manages the communications efforts across the production company’s multiple businesses.

Her participation aligns with her Reach Higher program, encouraging students to “Complete your education. Launching Friday at 5 p.m. ET and running through Friday Oct. 10, SiriusXM’s Barbra Streisand Channel will allow fans to bask in a nonstop flow of the singer’s catalog. From her 1963 debut right through to her new album, Partners, releasing Sept. 16. THR The channel will have a Town Hall special with Streisand in which she’ll sit down for an intimate Q&A with SiriusXM listeners in New York. The Town Hall is set to air on Sunday, Sept. 14, at noon and will be available on demand after that.

Facebook Adding View Counts to Videos (AllFacebook)
Facebook announced that it has been averaging more than 1 billion video views per day since June, with 65 percent of them on mobile, and brands and users that post videos will now be able to see how much of those 1 billion-plus views they were responsible for, as public videos from users and pages will now display view counts.

Studios Hit With New Class-Action Suit Over Anti-Poaching Pacts (Variety)
The Walt Disney Co., DreamWorks Animation and Sony Pictures Animation are among the defendants in a new class-action suit, contending that the studios and other visual effects and animation companies conspired to suppress wages via “non-poaching” agreements between the companies. Also named in the lawsuit, filed on Monday in federal court in San Jose, California, are Pixar, Lucasfilm and its division Industrial Light and Magic, Digital Domain, and ImageMovers Digital. Also named was Sony Pictures Imageworks.

U.K. Media Circus Erupts on News of Second Royal Baby (THR)
An otherwise slow start to the week sprung into a media frenzy in the U.K. Monday after the royal family announced that Kate Middleton was pregnant with child number two with Prince William. Major news channels the BBC, Sky News and ITV were all quick to announce the breaking story, pushing it to the top of their websites and poring over the limited facts released in the announcement — that Middleton was suffering from acute morning sickness and was being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace. AllTwitter If you were on Twitter the news was fairly hard to avoid. Indeed, once Clarence House tweeted that “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their child” at 10:25 British time, that was almost all anyone was talking about for the rest of the morning.

Spotify Bows First Video Ads, With ‘Takeover’ Spots from Universal (Variety)
Spotify unveiled its first video-ad products — for both desktops and mobile devices — with worldwide launch partners NBCUniversal’s Universal Pictures, Coca-Cola, Ford and McDonald’s. The video ads will be served to the 30-plus million users of Spotify’s free service (subscribers of the premium versions will not see the spots). In the U.S., Spotify video-ad launch partners are Kraft Foods, Target and Wells Fargo. Adweek Spotify CBO Jeff Levick declined to say how much the ads cost, but he did reveal they are priced at a premium to make up for lost revenue during the half hour free of ads.

Politico Gearing Up For Europe Expansion (HuffPost / Backstory)
Politico is planning to expand into Europe through the launch of a new organization based in Brussels, Belgium, the capital of the European Union. On Monday morning, Politico CEO Jim VandeHei told senior editors that the company’s plans for Europe are “much bigger than anyone is thinking,” according to a staffer with knowledge of the meeting.
