Montel Williams Cries For Medicinal Marijuana

While we were at the Webby Awards last night and Al Gore was sweating at the Museum of Natural History, the Washington, D.C.-based Marijuana Policy Project was in town for an awards benefit at Capitale on the Bowery. Some 300 “cannactivists” were there. Montel Williams was there, too, and gave an teary, 17-minute speech about his ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis. Reports High Times editor-at-large and friend of the ‘bowl Steve Bloom:

“I’m not about politics, I’m about a mission,” said Williams. “I’m in pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I’m in pain right now. I’m probably the government’s worst enemy. I’ve put my black ass on the front lines for weed. It’s a long road right now, but we’re making a difference.”
