Media Minutiae: A Welcome Edition, or at Spin, Subtraction

  • Another day, another Spin exodus report: Gawker reports that more staffers at the once-formidable music magazine are removing their names from the guest list, er, masthead, including friend-of-the-‘bowl Dave Itzkoff, senior writer Marc Spitz and photo editor Kathleen Kemp.
  • Lunch is a start: Mediaweek (via Jossip) reports that efforts are underway to lure Jann Wenner and Wenner Media back to the Magazine Publishers of America, the high-powered consumer magazine association. Wenner’s decade-long absence has long been a point of contention inside the association’s membership. The first baby step: a lunch with Wenner, Playboy CEO Christie Hefner and Time Inc. CEO Ann Moore. We’d rather not comment on the “hunk of meat” that they supposedly dined on.
  • At CBS News, ‘interim’ can mean ‘a year’: Bob Schieffer marks his one-year anniversary as “interim” anchor of CBS Evening News by saying he has no interest in taking the interim tag off the anchor chair. “I got over wanting this job back in 1980,” he tells Philly Inquirer.
