It happened in the very center of the “thirty-mile zone.” However, per the end of TMZ’s item about a fire that destroyed singer Johnny Mathis’ Hollywood Hills home, the incident also split the Playa Vista news gathering operation right down the (generational) middle:
Besides the personal loss for Johnny, the fire is creating a huge rift in our office. People in the know (a.k.a. intelligent and possibly older) are feuding with the younger set who claim to have no idea who he is.
