Giants, Routed By Packers, Take Weekly Number One

As the blizzard was beginning to bear down on New York, the Giants were beginning to get crushed by the Packers. The loss dealt a serious blow to the Giants playoff chances.

But the setback, which ended at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, was the number one prime time show for week, according to the Nielsen Company.

The game had an estimated 2.3 million WNYW viewers and a 11.6 rating.

Fox’s post-game show The OT was fourth (757,000/3.8).

ESPN’s Monday Night Football, from December 20, notched a number three (780,000/3.9).

60 Minutes took second place with 950,000 watching on WCBS and a 4.7.

ABC’s traditional holiday showing of The Sound of Music had good timing of the snowstorm. The movie was fifth (747,000/3.7).

That blizzard also gave Fox 5/WNYW the 15th highest-rated program for the week for their 10 p.m. newscast on Sunday night (540,000/2.7).
