Get Ready: Journopalooza III is Coming

In the new year, Journopalooza III is going to take some new twists.  The Recording Industry Association of America, Bae Systems, Brunswick Group and Flying Dog Beer are sponsors.  There will be five bars, seven bands–and only one title of “D.C.’s best media band.”  The audience will select the winner.

A record-breaking lineup of seven musical acts has been confirmed. Four veterans of the Journopalooza stage return by popular demand: Charm Offensive, Dirty Bomb, Nobody’s Business, and Suspicious Package. Preparing for debut appearances: The Stepping Stones, a Monkees cover band fronted by two WaPo reporters; the folky eclectic sounds of Rebecca & Peter, whose talented singer spends her days at Bloomberg; and classic rockers NRBK, whose members have a combined professional history of more than 50 years in media.

Tickets: $25 in advance; $30 at the door. VIP tickets are $40 and include a pre-show VIP reception with open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets will be available for purchase through on January 5. Proceeds benefit three media causes: The Committee to Protect Journalists/Journalist Assistance Program, The Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, and Reporters Without Borders.
