The Daily Dot Grabs Staffers From Newsweek, Rolling Stone and PBS

Six talented women in all, based in New York, Austin, Atlanta and New Orleans.

Jessica Machado, The Daily Dot’s new lifestyle editor, was previously an associate editor at Rolling Stone. Senior politics reporter Lauren Walker is moving over from Newsweek, where she covered a broader mix of technology, national security and foreign affairs. And Katey Psencik, The Daily Dot’s new assistant social media editor, will work out of the office in Austin, a city where she previously amplified the audience of PBS affiliate KRLU-TV.

But perhaps the best job title belongs to Colette Bennett, one of three other full-time hires announced today by the five-year-old site. She will be The Daily Dot’s senior geek writer, based in Atlanta. (The Daily Dot has offices in New York and Austin.)

The other two hires are valued contributors. April Siese, who has written for The Daily Dot’s LOL and Geek sections, will serve as weekend editor and is based in New Orleans, while lifestyle writer Jaya Saxena has also previously held full-time positions at Toast and Gothamist, and starts May 2. Congrats to all!
