Breaking Up Would Be Hard To Do
The Chandlers got the restructuring deal they’d been pushing for — which could make it possible to break up or sell the Tribune Co.
According to the LAT: Tribune said the special panel of independent directors would study “alternatives for creating additional value for shareholders.”
Which, Mark Lacter, notes usually means sale. Still it’s not likely the sale would include the LAT.
As analyst John Morton says: “I find it unlikely they would want to dispose of the Los Angeles Times, which is a major revenue and profit producer for them.
