Boosted By IPad Sales, Wired Bucks A Trend

Wired‘s newsstand sales in the second half of 2011 grew by nearly 30 percent, due in no small part to its success on the iPad, with 27,000 iPad copies sold.

Its 28.2 percent growth to 105,614 single copies sold makes the geek mag one of the biggest-gaining titles on the newsstand. Health magazine’s sales grew 20 percent, as Crain’s New York Business points out, but some of that was from expanding distribution. Similarly, Fortune’s 8.5 percent growth could be attributed to the mag’s cutting its frequency, which leaves each issue on newsstands longer.
