Bloomberg’s Odd Google Appearance

FishbowlNY has learned that Mayor Michael Bloomberg had visited Google’s offices in Chelsea on Thursday morning — to deliver a speech decrying America’s immigration party.

The New York Sun, the only local newspaper to cover the event (alongside a five graf short in the NYDN), reports:

America’s immigration policy is “the craziest thing in the world,” Mayor Bloomberg said during a visit to Google’s 300,000-square-foot offices in Chelsea early yesterday. “Everybody else is trying to get the best and the brightest and we’re trying to keep them out,” the mayor said. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

So what was Bloomberg doing at Google yesterday anyhow? As our esteemed co-editor has written, Bloomberg is unlikely to enter the presidential race with the McCain/Clinton/Obama ascendancy. Is he hoping for a Vice Presidential nomination or a Cabinet post or does he just want to play kingmaker?

Interesting.
