<em>Billboard</em> Publisher Promoted To Publisher Of <em>Hollywood Reporter</em>, Too

Via memo from VNU's recently installed CEO Bob Krakoff: TO: All VNU Business Media Employees FROM: Bob Krakoff RE: Management Changes I would like to announce two important changes in our executive team. Tony Uphoff, President of the Film and Performing Arts Group and Publisher of The Hollywood Reporter, is leaving VNU Business Media to return to CMP as President of the Business Technology Group. He has been a valuable member of the Business Media Management Group and has been instrumental in leading the transition of The Hollywood Reporter from print to digital including products offering information and data. Tony will be leaving on October 17th. At the same time I am pleased to announce that John Kilcullen, President of the Music, Literary & Jewelry Group and Publisher of Billboard, has been promoted to President of the Film and Performing Arts Group and Publisher of The Hollywood Reporter. He will lead both groups. John and his family will relocate to Los Angeles and he will assume his new responsibilities there immediately. We are fortunate to have such a skilled executive, and one with directly related experience, to undertake this role. It is a big plus for Business Media that John understands the market impact of digital convergence. He has also been successful in creating a high level of collaboration with Nielsen Entertainment and growing face-to-face platforms including awards shows, executive conferences, special events and executive roundtables. Over the past three years, John has reinvented the industry and consumer business model for Billboard in non-music areas that overlap with THR. With his innovations in digital, mobile, video, branded entertainment, mobile/video games and entertainment law, he is well qualified to bring this expertise to The Hollywood Reporter. He continues to oversee $6 million in annual digital revenues for Billboard, in addition to a vibrant licensing business in collaboration with Howard Appelbaum, Vice President of Licensing, and a highly successful event business. Prior to joining VNU, John Kilcullen spent 11 years in the Bay Area, where he was founding member of IDG Books Worldwide, Inc. Under his leadership the company grew revenues to over $200 million and launched the popular for Dummies brand of books.
