After Six Years, Hawaii Tribune-Herald Employees Get A Contract

The Hawaii Newspaper Guild and the Hilo-based Hawaii Tribune-Herald have inked a two-year contract, concluding almost six years of negotiations, reports The Newspaper Guild.

The new contract allows for the first raises since 2002.

Guild spokesperson Wayne Cahill said that he believed the company had no intention of ever reaching an agreement, but changed its mind because the employees were planning an island-wide consumer boycott against the paper.
