A Few Good Non-WHCD Options

Not invited? Don’t care? Well, you’re not out of luck. There are several good options for fun this weekend that are not related to the WHCA hoopla.

FOTOBAMA: A new exhibit showcasing the top 100 winners and finalists in the 2009 FOTOBAMA international photography contest opened today at the Newseum. See a few of the winning photographs here.

Ball on the Mall: There is still time to purchase tickets for the Inaugural Ball on the Mall. This black-tie fete is presented by the The Trust for the National Mall and the L’Enfant Society and is being held tomorrow evening starting at 7.30PM. Tix are $150.00 and can be purchased here.

Writers Speak!: Writers Guild of America, East presents “A Potentially Regrettable Evening With Comedy Writers” at the Newseum tomorrow evening. Comedy writers from some of the top late night shows will perform stand-up and then talk about the phenomenon of audiences turning to comedy/variety for news as well as the growing synergy between Washington, Wall Street, the media and late night comedy/variety programs.
