See BBH’s Incredible Short Film ‘Home,’ Which Is Finally Online but Only for a Week

Deputy ECD Anthony Austin discusses the gold Lion winner

CANNES, France—One of the most celebrated agency projects of the past year hasn’t been that easy to see. It’s played mostly at film festivals since its debut at South by Southwest in 2016. But now, this week only, anyone can check out Black Sheep Studios’ incredible short film Home, about the refugee crisis.

Written and directed by Daniel Mulloy, the 20-minute film tells the story of a British suburban family going on what appears to be a vacation, but things quickly turn horrific. It was produced by Black Sheep Studios (BBH’s in-house production company), Somesuch and Dokufest. It’s been universally praised, and won the BAFTA award for best short film.

In honor of World Refugee Day, the film is now posted to Vimeo but for one week only. (It will taken down next Tuesday. UPDATE: The film is now gone from Vimeo.) And in a bit of nice timing, the piece also won a Gold Lion here in Cannes in the Entertainment Lions category.

In the video above, BBH deputy executive creative director Anthony Austin talks about how the project came about, and why people have reacted so strongly to the work.
