The U.K. sees 7.5 million wet wipes being flushed down toilets every day, according to a campaign in Scotland that aims to introduce a ban on those made with plastic in a bid to protect the country’s natural environment.
The Scottish Water-led campaign, titled “Nature Calls,” claims that the country experiences 36,000 sewer blockages each year at a cost of about $25,000 (£19,000) per day and is calling on more people to throw away wipes rather than flushing them down the toilet.
