Brandweek will feature live discussions with marketing pros at ULTA Beauty, Converse, UPS and more. Meet us in Miami Sept. 11–14 to boost your business and elevate your brand.
Cannes Lions will introduce another new award this year—Entertainment Person of the Year, which will be handed to entertainer and entrepreneur Kevin Hart.
The award has been created by the festival in recognition of the role that entertainment plays in marketing and communications, with the aim of celebrating creativity and entertaining content creators.
It will be bestowed on Hart, who is the founder and chairman of media company Hartbeat. Hart will speak onstage as part of the award’s accompanying seminar. He will be presented with the award on June 20 during that evening’s awards show in the Palais as well.
“I am so honored to receive this award and be recognized for my work in the entertainment and advertising space,” commented Hart in a statement. “It’s been incredible to work with Hartbeat’s branded entertainment studio and marketing consultancy, along with my brand partners, to take comedy in advertising to the next level and craft culturally relevant campaigns that unite people through laughter. My team and I are just getting started, and we will continue to raise the bar and make an impact in advertising.”
Speaking at Brandweek in Miami last year, Hart discussed his career and embracing new ideas and formats along the way.
“I broke new ground by not being afraid of putting my own ass on the line and, if it’s bad, then I’m the one who has to deal with that burden. I wasn’t afraid to take risks and try something new. Embrace this new generation and the world of culture and how they move. If you do not, you will get left behind,’ he explained to Adweek.
Also picking up a newly created award is filmmaker Spike Lee, who will be named as the first Creative Maker of the Year. Lee will also participate in his own session during the festival’s programming.
