Who doesn’t love a good horror movie? The suspense, the jump scares … and, of course, the blood. Since blood is so ubiquitous in the horror genre (and makes an appearance in other kinds of films as well), every special effects artist worth their salt has at least three recipes for fake blood in their arsenal of tricks. Ingredients for faux sang may include corn syrup, food coloring, cocoa powder and even glitter, like the SFX crew did on the set of the 1987 vampire flick The Lost Boys. Some accounts say that ketchup has also been used as fake blood, especially in b-horror movies.
