Amazon Launches a Support Network for Refugees

A new program, Welcome Door, seeks to provide assistance and training

Amazon has launched a new initiative, the Welcome Door program, which will provide employees who are refugees and immigrants admitted on humanitarian grounds with additional resources and support.

Through this program, eligible employees will gain access to new resources, including reimbursement for Employment Authorization Document fees, which the ecommerce giant said cost an average of $500 every other year.

The program also includes a Citizenship Assistance Portal that will support U.S. citizenship applications; communications about policy changes that may impact an employee’s immigration status; free legal resources; and access to skills training, including free college tuition and English as a Second Language classes.

The program will be offered to U.S. employees
