CHICAGO Wal-Mart is making its first foray into reality television with The Scholar, a new show that follows 10 high school students vying to have all their college tuition and expenses paid.
Throughout the show, which debuts on ABC on Monday, Wal-Mart will provide secondary scholarships as the contestants compete in areas of academics, leadership, creative and community service. The Bentonville, Ark., retailer’s agency, Bernstein-Rein in Kansas City, Mo., approached the company about participating in the program, according to a representative.
