Volk to Rejoin Arnold Network

After an absence of more than two years, Kristin Volk will return in mid-April to the Arnold network, serving as chief marketing officer of Arnold McGrath.

In the newly created post, Volk will oversee new-business efforts, as well as strategic and account planning for the New York office. “We wanted to do a more effective job of marketing our creative and strategic capabilities to prospective clients and existing clients,” said Stephen Badenhop, president of Arnold McGrath and Volk’s new boss.

Volk left Arnold in Boston in late 1999 to join Kathy Kiely, formerly evp, director of business development, in launching a Boston office for Deutsch. Despite some initial success in the dot-com arena, the Interpublic Group outpost never made a significant impact in Boston; it closed its doors in July 2001 with nine staffers, after parting with Home runs.com, its one remaining noteworthy client.

Prior to Deutsch, Volk had been with Arnold since 1986; her last post there was evp, director in charge of the Consumer Insight Group. She was widely respected both inside and outside the agency, and shared credit for helping Arnold devise ad strategies for Volkswagen of Amer ica, among other accounts.

Broader responsibilities lured Volk back to the network. “They gave me a much more expanded role than the first time around,” she said. “It’s an opportunity to be a part of an agency I know and love … in a new environment.”
