TNS/CMR: Ad Spending Grew 9.8% in'04

NEW YORK Ad spending totaled more than $141 billion last year, an increase of 9.8 percent over the previous year, according to figures released Tuesday by TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, which tracks ad spending across individual media segments.

With the exception of national spot radio, 16 of the 17 media tracked by TNS/CMR experienced growth, with the Internet, outdoor, cable TV and national TV syndication showing the biggest increases.

Although Olympics and political advertising are often cited as the main drivers for ad growth last year, other factors also contributed.
