NEW YORK TiVo said that it has agreed to collaborate with online movie rental service Netflix to create a joint entertainment offering, opening the possibility of delivering video from the Web to television.

Under the terms of the deal, TiVo, the Alviso, Calif.-based digital video recorder company, and Netflix of Los Gatos, Calif., will develop technology and work with Hollywood studios to secure content for digital distribution.

TiVo CEO Mike Ramsey has resigned from the Netflix board of directors as a result of the new agreement in an effort to avoid potential conflicts of interest that might develop.
