Three Pernod Ricard Brands Leaving Saatchi

NEW YORK Saatchi & Saatchi in New York has split with Pernod Ricard USA on the Wild Turkey, Bushmills and Black Bush brands, the agency said.

Saatchi managing partner Mike Burns attributed what he called a resignation to “creative differences” and added, “They’re terrific people and we wish them all the best in the future.”

Major media spending on the brands has been limited in recent years. In the first 10 months of 2002, CMR recorded more than $1 million in spending on Wild Turkey and no spending on either Bushmills or Black Bush. In 2001, the client spent more than $3 million on Wild Turkey. There was no spending recorded for Bushmills and Black Bush in 2001 either.

Pernod plans to reassign the brands to another shop. A client marketing executive said the company would make an announcement on Thursday.

Saatchi had handled creative duties on Wild Turkey since 1997 and the other two brands since 1999.

The resignation came four months after the client shifted creative duties on Wyborowa vodka, from Saatchi to Berlin Cameron/Red Cell in New York.
