Textron Awards Assignment To AdVentures

BOSTON: Textron, Providence, R.I., has tapped crosstown shop AdVentures to design and produce The Link, an internal publication distributed to the company’s employees worldwide.
The assignment was awarded to AdVentures after a review of undisclosed advertising and design firms, according to Textron representatives. The assignment had been handled by Duffy & Shanley, also in Providence, which continues to work on public relations for Textron.
“We’d had discussions with [Textron executives] over time, and I think our slow, steady growth just turned their heads,” said AdVentures president Stephen Rosa.
“AdVentures was chosen to design and produce The Link because of their creative talent and commitment to client service,” said Susan Gillette, director of corporate communications for Textron.
AdVentures has completed three issues of The Link, Rosa said, and is working on investor relations projects as well as the client’s 75th anniversary logo. Rosa estimated the contract to be in the $300,000-500,000 range.
The monthly publication articulates Textron’s visions and goals to its 58,000 staffers worldwide. The company’s stock information, employee news and human interest stories appear regularly.
Employee communications is a “growing area” of his shop’s business, said Rosa. “We seek clients who are leaders, and leadership companies value the importance of employee communications. Effective employee communications is an art and science that should not be taken lightly,” Rosa added.
Textron is a holding company that operates four divisions: automotive, industrial, finance and aircraft, including Cessna Aircraft Co. and Bell Helicopter Textron.
AdVentures is an 8-year-old advertising and public relations agency that has done project work for clients such as Fleet Financial Group, American Power Conversion and Nationwide Insurance.
