Texas shops were among the stars at the recent national Addy Awards presented by the American Advertising Federation.
GSD&M in Austin, Texas, won the most awards locally, with ads for the Peace Council (public services/electronic media), SBC Communications (consumer services/television) and Zilker Park (arts advertising/collateral) being cited.
DDB Dallas won two consumer product awards for television and magazine ads for McIlhenny Co., maker of Tabasco hot sauce.
Other winners were: The Center for the Persuasive Arts, San Antonio, for a local TV campaign for Sylvania Alamo Bowl; Human Code, Austin, for its own online advertising; McCann-Erickson Southwest, Houston, for Texas Tourism (public service/electronic media); Stan & Lou Advertising, Houston, for a public service campaign on neurofibromatosis; and The MAD House, Austin, for a Cook’s Sure Shot point-of-sale promotion.
Texans were also represented on the judging panel by Heberto Gutierrez, chairman and CEO of Inventiva, San Antonio, and Lewis Glaser, owner and creative director...
