S.W. Shops Score National Addys

Seven Southwest agencies took home a total of 13 national Addy Awards last week, following the American Advertising Federation’s convention in Cleveland.

The Dallas office of McCann-Erickson won trophies for its television commercials on behalf of 1-800-Attorneys.com. Al-though the legal referral Web site has since become inactive, Mc-Cann ran two ads last year for the client, both of which won kudos.

“Milk” (winner in the corporate category) and “Dumb Laws” (consumer services) both dramatize actual laws, such as a Wisconsin statute against driving a car with a chicken on one’s head.

Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods in Little Rock, Ark., was recognized for its Arkansas River Bluesfest 2000 (arts collateral and arts broadcast category) and Fay-etteville Athletic Club (magazine fractional ad) work.

Also in Little Rock, Stone & Ward received an Addy for a stationery package designed for men’s clothing store Greg Herr.

Hispanic marketing agencies Bromley Communications in San Antonio and Dieste & Partners of Dallas each earned an Addy. Bromley was recognized for a Spanish-language full page ad for Procter & Gamble; Dieste for broadcast advertising for KTSM-TV.

In the arts division, Austin, Texas-based GSD&M’s work for the Museum of African American History won in three categories. Rives Carlberg in Houston won in the non-English arts category for its El Dia poster campaign, as well as for logo and trademark design.
