Sherwood Exits Chemistri

DETROIT Patrick Sherwood, president and chief executive of Publicis Groupe’s chemistri, will leave the agency at the end of June to pursue other ventures, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Tom Bernardin, president of Leo Burnett Worldwide and CEO of Leo Brunett USA.

Chemistri’s chairman Gary Topolewski and COO D. Stan Fields will work with Bernardin to run the shop, with Publicis Groupe president, COO Roger Haupt continuing to serve in a senior advisory capacity.

Sherwood previously served as president of D’Arcy Detroit, which changed its name a year ago to chemistri and consolidated Publicis-GM’s relationships and integrated the resources of various Publicis agencies into a single unit, which is strategically aligned with Leo Burnett Worldwide.

“A year ago we put in motion an ongoing process with a commitment to a new, idea-based way of doing business to set us apart from our competitors and better serve our clients,” Haupt said in the statement. “It’s time for the next step in that development. We wish Patrick well and thank him for building strength and stability into this innovative shop.”

Chemistri’s clients include Cadillac, Pontiac, GM Service and Parts Operations and several global GM operations.
