Retailer Names New Marketing Leader

CHICAGO J.C. Penney Corp. has appointed Mike Boylson executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Boylson will replace John Budd, who is retiring.

Boylson, 48, assumes his new position April 1 and will report to Vanessa Castagna, chairman and chief executive officer of the Plano, Texas, retailer.

Previously, Boylson was vice president and director of marketing planning and promotions. He joined J.C. Penney in 1978 as a management trainee.

Budd, 68, joined J.C. Penney in February 2001. The change in marketing leadership will not affect the retailer’s current advertising agency relationship with DDB Chicago, a company representative said.
