Red Cell Taps Halling for Development Post

NEW YORK WPP Group’s Red Cell network said it has appointed Katie Halling business development director, a new position, effective immediately.

Halling’s responsibilities will be to generate organic growth within the 57 network offices as well as to pursue new clients, manage international pitches and raise the network’s profile. She will be based in London and report to Red Cell Europe CEO Amanda Walsh, who called Halling “fantastically qualified to perform this role.”

Halling, 37, was most recently a management supervisor at Omnicom Group’s TBWA in London. TBWA’s London office last week saw three top executives depart to form a startup agency; they included chairman and chief creative Trevor Beattie [Adweek Online, May 5].

“I hired her because I was most interested in the combination of her having worked at BBH and Wieden in Amsterdam,” Walsh said. “She’s got experience both as a senior account handler and new business experience.”

In addition to having worked as a senior account director at HHCL/Red Cell in London, Halling was head of account management at BBH in London on Imbev, Diageo and Unilever. She has also spent time at independent Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam as a management supervisor, working on Nike, Coca-Cola and Siemens.
