NEW YORK–Total magazine advertising revenue for the first half of 2001 dropped 2.9% to $8.0 billion, Publishers Information Bureau announced today. Over the same period, ad pages slipped 11.0 percent to 121,772.

June numbers were similarly stagnant. Spending closed at $1.4 billion, a whopping 8.2 percent below last year. Also, ad pages skidded 18.6 percent to 19,751. Five out of the 12 major ad categories, including technology; retail; media and advertising; financial, insurance and real estate; and automotive, posted losses through June.
