Cathy Goodin has been hired as managing partner, account director by WPP’s Mediaedge:cia in New York. She most recently served as evp, director of communications planning at Publicis’ Saatchi & Saatchi in New York. In her new post, Goodin is managing media planning and buying for AT&T Consumer and AT&T Business, as well as national media planning and buying for Dr Pepper/7Up.

BMW Puts films on hold

CHICAGO BMW of North America has no immediate plans to continue its award-winning BMW Film series, a company rep said, but stopped short of saying the Web-based franchise will not return. The client will likely opt for a more traditional marketing plan for new car models, sources said. The company is promoting the three most recent films with a screening at the Cannes Film Festival this month, the rep said.

GM Touts 24-hour test drive

DETROIT General Motors last week unveiled a campaign supporting a new program that lets consumers take a 24-hour test drive in any GM car or truck. The work, from McCann-Erickson in Troy, Mich., includes a 60-second TV spot and two 30-second spots that feature Meatloaf’s campy classic-rock song “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.” Ads will air on network and cable outlets. Radio and print will run in GM’s top 75 markets across the country.
