Paul DeBenedittis was promoted to senior vice president, program planning and scheduling for MTV: Music Television in New York. He formerly served as vice president of programming and scheduling, MTV.

The Coastal Group named Adam Gold executive vice president of business development. He arrives at the New York-based agency from the trade publication Giftware Business, where he served as publisher.

Cynthia Hudson will serve as chair of Burson-Marsteller’s global Public Affairs Practice. Richard Mintz, who was managing director in the practice, will succeed Hudson as U.S. practice chair. Both Hudson and Mintz are based in Washington; Burson-Marsteller is based in New York.

Jennifer Weighart was hired as cca Advertising’s first account management/strategic planning team member. She joins the New York-based agency from SS&K Advertising, where she worked on accounts such as Road Runner Highspeed Online, Pharmacia and Ralph Lauren.

Ryan Communications appointed Christopher Gardner director of client services, retail division. Prior to joining the Syracuse-based shop, he worked at Send.com.

Sage Marcom in Liverpool named Joe Quinn associate creative director of advertising. He previously served for six years at Mark Russell & Associates as a senior-level art director.

The Promotion Marketing Association in New York appointed Edward Kabak director of legal affairs. He was most recently vice president, secretary and general counsel of Grolier, previously the direct marketing and publishing arm of the Lagardere Group.

New York-based Hotelevision, an upscale, advertiser-supported TV medium that delivers premium cable-TV networks to hotels, hired Jeff Stettin as senior vice president of advertising sales. Prior to joining the company, he worked at Food Network.


Carole Carr was appointed vice president of account services at GráficaGroup in Chester. She previously worked at companies such as DVC Group, Merkley Newman Harty, BBDO and Infinity Broadcasting.

Zebus Group hired Jay Johnson as chief executive officer. He will assume CEO responsibilities from Praveen Varma, the Woodbridge-based company’s co-founder, who will continue to serve as president and chief technology officer. Johnson formerly served as vice president of the Network Security Services division of VeriSign.

Joel Kleinman joined InsightFarm, the new joint venture of Burrelle’s Information Services and VMS, as senior consultant. He will design and implement research in the areas of public relations, advertising, corporate reputation and brand equity at the Livingston-based company.


Tierney Communications appointed Ian Croll senior vice president and director of strategic planning. In his new role at the Philadelphia-based agency, he will help develop and execute creative strategies for existing accounts such as Exelon Corp., PECO Energy, Pennsylvania Lottery, Sunoco, Verizon and SunGard. He formerly was at Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG in New York, working as worldwide strategic planning director for Philips Electronics and MCI WorldCom.

MARC USA/Pittsburgh promoted two staffers on its Mellon Financial Corp. and Rite Aid Pharmacies accounts. Andy McKenna was elevated to senior copywriter; he started at MARC as an intern in 1992 and was hired as a copywriter a year later. Thomas Laurent rose to associate director, print production, a newly created position; he joined the agency as a print production supervisor in 1994 and was promoted to senior print production supervisor in 1998.

Bozell Kamstra in Pittsburgh hired five new staffers. Dave Carlson was named a management supervisor in the account-services department; he previously worked at PPG Industries. Christy Kohser joined as a traffic coordinator in the production department; she most recently served as office manager at John Brady Design. Eileen Schnorr arrived as an account manager in the account-services department; she formerly worked at Ketchum Public Relations. Jennifer Setto was named a producer in the interactive department, working on Web development; she previously was at Premier Medical Associates. Maria Tran was hired as an account coordinator in the public relations department; she is a recent graduate of Duquesne University.

Pomco Graphic Arts hired two new staffers. Jessica Mitryk was named specification representative; her duties include working with the graphic-design commun ity, providing information regarding the different graphic-arts processes offered by the Philadelphia company. Larry Wilson joined Pomco Graphic Arts’ sales team as account executive; he previously worked at companies such as Suburban Printing in Paoli.
