Moore Goes West

LOS ANGELES — Bob Moore, who arrived at Fallon just 19 months ago in the role of creative director, is leaving to take a top job at Publicis in the West.

Moore was hired at Fallon to help run the creative department so that David Lubars could focus on his duties as co-president.

Moore, 41, joins the Seattle shop, which, like Fallon, is part of the Publicis Groupe, at the beginning of May as co-president and executive creative director. He will share the presidency and creative leadership with Kevin Kehoe, the shop’s chief creative officer.

“I wasn’t planning to leave,” Moore said. “In Minneapolis, I led a group. In Seattle, I have the opportunity … to lead an agency.” Moore also cited the opportunity to be closer to family and friends as another reason for moving to Publicis.

At the time Moore was hired, Lubars said he was looking for help overseeing Fallon’s creative product and running the agency. Lubars now says he has no plans to fill the post, but will hire one or two more associate creative directors, a level just below Moore’s cd position. Bruce Bildsten is the only remaining associate creative director after another acd, Peter McHugh, left in January.

Lubars said he will rely more on the acds to manage the clients. “It was redundant to have a creative director and then me for all the work those acds do,” he said.

Trained as a copywriter, Moore worked at Seattle shops Sharp Hartwig and Cole & Weber before joining Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore., in 1990. In 1992, he helped establish its Amsterdam office. He returned to Portland in 1996.
