Memorial Services Set for Gerald C. Atkin

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 12 p.m. at the Tawas Bay Yacht Club in East Tawas, Mich., for former longtime McCann Erickson executive Gerald C. Atkin.

He died last month at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston following a battle with lymphoma. He was 73.

Atkin managed McCann’s office in Melbourne, Australia from 1991-96, following a 10-year tenure overseeing McCann in Detroit and serving as worldwide coordinator on the General Motors account. Earlier in his career, he managed GM Opel at McCann in Frankfurt, Germany, after starting his career with the shop in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1973. He had also worked at JWT and on the client side at Ford.

He leaves his wife Denise; son Derek; daughter Cori Ford; stepson Eric; brother James; and ex-wife Diann Richards.
 
A Detroit-area memorial service will be held at the Grosse Pointe, Mich., Yacht Club on Jan. 30 at 5 p.m.
