Media Solutions Wins Goody’s Buying Duties

ATLANTA Goody’s Family Clothing has awarded its media buying business to Media Solutions after a review, the agency said.

Billings were not disclosed, but the company spent $22 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. Other sources estimate the business is worth more than $40 million.

The incumbent was MarketPower Media, an independent shop in San Antonio that bought the company’s broadcast media, and NSA in Atlanta, which bought print advertising.

Goody’s asked at least six shops to present credentials in June. The search was narrowed to two shops in September. The company declined to identify the other contenders for the account. Goody’s produces its advertising in-house.

Media Solutions, an independent Atlanta shop, has hired a broadcast buying supervisor for the account and expects to add several account service personnel, said Pat Sibley, the president of the agency.

The win almost doubles the billings of the shop. Last year, Media Solutions had annual billings of about $60 million. The shop expects billings to increase to more than $100 million next year, Sibley said.
