MEC Forms Access Unit

NEW YORK Media agency Mediaedge:cia is combining the resources of all of its global sports, entertainment and cause-marketing businesses, previously known individually as MEC Sponsorship, Leverage Group and Sponsorcom, to form one new specialty division called MEC Access.

The new unit will be headed in the Americas by Richard Yaffa. He will be based in New York. MEC is a unit of WPP Group.

“We have been very successful over the past few years in delivering both strategic consulting and implementation services for a broad spectrum of clients across a wide range of platforms and properties, globally and locally,” Yaffa said. “The launch of MEC Access allows us to present a consistent brand across markets, giving our clients access to extensive expertise across all platforms—all totally integrated within the broader MEC proposition.”

MEC Access will offer clients advice and insight, along with return-on-investment solutions. It will also advise clients on the role of strategic partnerships.
