McDonald’s Creates Global Marketing Czar

CHICAGO — McDonald’s Corp. named branding consultant Larry Light its executive vice president and global chief marketing officer, a new position, the company said.

Light, the founding president of ceo of Arcature, a brand consulting firm, will report to McDonald’s CEO Jack Greenberg. Light will oversee all global marketing strategy and brand development for the Oak Brook, Ill. fast food chain.

McDonald’s launched a search for the job in June.

Prior to working at Arcature, Light was chairman and CEO of the international division of Bates Advertising, where he served on the worldwide board.

Light began his career at BBDO Worldwide in 1965 and served as evp for marketing and media services.

Last month, Bill Lamar was named svp, U.S. Marketing, overseeing all aspects of national marketing for McDonalds. He took over from Tom Ryan, who is concentrating on menu development.
