Levitz Changes Its Tune

NEW YORK A new campaign for Levitz furniture stores from DeVito/Verdi in New York gives the retailer, best known for its “You’ll Love It at Levitz” jingle, an updated image with spots that star younger consumers and focus on lifestyles instead of sales. The furniture plays a primary role, of course, but the stories are about what happens in their customer’s lives. In this commercial, a man wakes up his girlfriend with a 6 a.m. jam session. The camera focuses on him as he plays on the edge of the bed—but does pull back to show the entire room, and the annoyed girlfriend. “Wake up call,” the title cards explain. Nicely understated, the spot subtly conveys the price point and smartly skips the “You’ll Love It” song.
