Larrick Joins FCBi as CEO

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone & Belding said it is installing Pam Larrick as the first worldwide chairman and CEO of interactive and direct-marketing unit FCBi.

Larrick joins from IPG McCann WorldGroup shop MRM Partners, where she had been chairman and had held the worldwide CEO title until Reuben Hendell joined as CEO from independent Digitas in September.

Larrick, 54, reports to FCB worldwide chairman Brendan Ryan, who had been running FCBi at the worldwide level. He said in a statement, “In her 10 years at MRM, Pam spearheaded the transformation of MRM Partners into a worldwide leader in CRM strategy and award-winning creative campaigns.”

In an internal memo to FCB staffers, Ryan said Larrick came to his notice during IPG’s defense of its Samsung account, the brand portion of which went to WPP Group. FCB retains marketing duties on the account in various world regions.

Ryan wrote that after the pitch, “Every single person who had anything to do with that entire pitch came away singing Pam’s praises. They really did. And you can check with any of them. She was thought to be amazingly energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and just great to work with. And someone who could do the ‘chairmanly stuff’ just great—but who also, at 1 a.m. the night before the pitch, wasn’t above pasting boards together!”

Larrick began in 1994 at MRM, which was then known as McCann Direct, as managing director of the New York office and rose through the ranks to become president and CEO in 2001. She has worked with clients such as Microsoft, Nestle, General Motors, UPS and Johnson & Johnson.

Before joining McCann, Larrick spent 16 years at WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather Direct, now known as OgilvyOne.
