Ford will put Steve McQueen back in a starring role next month when a digitally reproduced image of the late actor appears in a national TV spot for the 2005 Mustang. In the spot, via WPP’s J. Walter Thompson in Detroit, a farmer builds a winding racetrack, which he drives around in a 2005 Mustang. Soon, McQueen emerges from a cornfield, and the farmer tosses the keys to him, and he drives off. Ford’s fourth-quarter ad budget is $170 million, about 50 percent more than in Q4 2003, per TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
