Jim Beam Tilts Its Glass Toward BBDO

CHICAGO Jim Beam Brands has named BBDO lead creative agency on its $20 million advertising account following a seven-month review, executives at the spirits company said.

The other finalists were Element 79 Partners, Chicago, and Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis. Incumbent Young & Rubicam, Chicago, and Fallon Minneapolis were cut earlier during the review process, sources said.

The Chicago agency will handle creative duties on the Deerfield, Ill., company’s flagship brand, Jim Beam, as well as DeKuyper cordials, Knob Creek ultra-premium bourbon and Vox, a top-of-the-line vodka.

BBDO will begin work on the brands immediately.

The agency review was conducted with the assistance from AAR Partners in New York, and during a time when Jim Beam senior vice president of marketing Tom Hernquist left the company in April. A replacement for him still has not been made.
