NEW YORK The board of Interpublic Group has moved to install holding company vice chairman David Bell as CEO, sources said. At the same time, current IPG CEO John Dooner will return to the job he held prior to taking the reins of IPG in January 2001: worldwide CEO of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup.
The moves were set in motion on Wednesday night, when Dooner fired WorldGroup CEO Jim Heekin. The board, which was mulling several options, okayed the plan in a meeting on Thursday.
