Mitsubishi Floats Interactive AssignmentLOS ANGELES—Mitsubishi Motors America, Cypress, Calif., has sent an RFP to select local agencies specializing in interactive and e-commerce advertising, sources said. The client is expected to require the Internet shop to work directly with its agency of record, Deutsch, Los Angeles, sources added. The budget is undisclosed. Ogden Launches Olympic Agency SearchLOS ANGELES—The city of Ogden, county seat for Utah's Weber County, has posted a request for qualifications for agencies to handle an estimated $1 million marketing campaign to coincide with the 2002 Winter Olympics. Major events such as the men's and women's downhill skiing events are scheduled at nearby Mount Ogden. "This is a unique opportunity for us to market ourselves and attract businesses," said Ron Kusina, executive director of the Weber Economic Development Corp. The RFQ, posted on www.webergrowth.com, is due Dec. 22 with a decision expected in early February. Wells Fargo Starts African American Agency ReviewLOS ANGELES—Wells Fargo Bank has launched a search for an African American marketing agency. Wells Fargo operates about 5,700 "stores," primarily on the West Coast. No budget was disclosed. The review is expected to conclude by early February. Select Resources International in Los Angeles is conducting the search. DDB Snags Alliance to Save Energy LOS ANGELES—DDB, Seattle, was tapped by the Alliance to Save Energy to produce a series of TV and radio PSAs promoting energy efficiency. The shop had previously created similar work for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. DDB's Issues & Advocacy Group will oversee the Alliance account. Young, CIA, Empower Agree to Beta Test Ad FusionLOS ANGELES—Young and Company, here, CIA Medianetwork, New York, and Empower MediaMarketing, Cincinnati, have agreed to beta test locally based online media buying and selling hub Adfusion. Creators of the application, one of many being marketed to ad and media agencies, met with a number of top media agencies this fall to discuss the advent of electronic media operations. The privately held L.A.-based provider has strategic partnerships with Ariba, Candle Corp. and Guidance Solutions. Sweet Win for Dieste & PartnersDALLAS—Dieste & Partners has won the first Hispanic ad account for Hershey Foods. The selection follows a national review of agencies. Billings were not disclosed, but Dieste expects initial assignments to include work for brands such as Hershey Bar, Hershey's Kisses and Kit Kat. Otero-Smart Among Top 100 Hispanics LOS ANGELES—Ingrid Otero-Smart, president and COO of ad agency Mendoza, Dillon & Asociados, was selected for the second consecutive year as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics for 2000. The list, compiled by Hispanic Business magazine, includes representatives from a cross-section of the nation's Hispanic professionals.
