Lowe Firms Up San Francisco Plans





SAN FRANCISCO–Lowe & Partners/SMS has secured temporary office space in San Francisco as its first step toward establishing a permanent West Coast location. The office is expected to hire at least 50 people, according to agency co-chairman Marvin Sloves. Lowe New York also is a finalist for the $4-8 million corporate branding account of Seattle-based Eddie Bauer. The other contenders are Citron Haligman Bedecarre in San Francisco and Rubin Postaer and Associates in Santa Monica, Calif.





More Consolidation Slated for Pac Bell





CHICAGO–Agency assignments for Pacific Bell are expected to be consolidated further by parent SBC Communications, including the information services account, currently handled by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, sources said. The estimated $5-10 million account would likely go to D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in St. Louis. DMB&B handles advertising for Southwestern Bell, which is also owned by SBC, said sources.





CKS, LVL End Merger Negotiations





SAN FRANCISCO–CKS Group, parent of CKS Partners, has discontinued negotiations to acquire LVL Communications in Palo Alto, Calif., according to sources (Adweek, June 2). LVL has renewed its search to find a financial backer, sources said.





Accounts Roundup





Odiorne Wilde Narraway Groome in San Francisco has been hired to handle a corporate print project for Daewoo Motor Co. in Compton, Calif., sources said. The agency was a contender for the client’s western regional account but pulled out before the final round . . . Kalis & Savage Advertising in Pacific Palisades, Calif., has picked up creative and media duties for Rancho Las Palmas Marriott in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Billings were not disclosed.

CKS Partners in Cupertino, Calif., has exited the review for Sprint’s interactive account due to conflicts with client MCI . . . PeopleSoft has named three finalists for its estimated $5 million account: the San Francisco offices of Saatchi & Saatchi and Young & Rubicam and incumbent W.B. Doner & Co. in Baltimore.





Onward and Upward





Euro RSCG Dahlin Smith White has hired three creatives in its recently formed San Fransciso office: art directors Ben Wayman and Stephen Lowry and copywriter Ian Graham . . . Jack Gold, account supervisor on Yonex at Team One Advertising in El Segundo, Calif., is joining Nike as European ad manager. He will be based in Amsterdam.
